This Privacy Policy, as amended or otherwise changed from time to time (the “Privacy Policy”), explains the manner in which Bitfinance (Pvt) Ltd trading as Golix (“Golix”) collects, uses, maintains and discloses user or customer information obtained through the website (the “Site”) or other sources. The terms “we,”“us,” and “our” refer to Golix, its subsidiaries or the parent company.

By using the Site, you (“User”) consent to the data practices prescribed in this Privacy Policy. On occasion, Golix may revise this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in law, our personal data collection and use practices, the features on the Site, or advances in technology. If material changes are made to this Privacy Policy, the changes will be posted on the Site. We will ask for your consent in the usage and collection of your information for any purpose that is not mentioned in this document.

Capitalized terms not defined herein shall have the meanings ascribed to them in our Website Terms & Conditions. This Privacy Policy does not cover any information that we may receive about you through channels external to Golix.

This Privacy Policy incorporates elements from the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in accordance to its personal information processing rules within the European Economic Area (EEA).

The information we collect

In order to provide you with our services we collect personal information, listed below is part of the information we collect:

Registration Information

  • When you create an account on our site you provide us with your full name, email address, phone number, password and a google authenticator account.

Identity verification information

At this stage we collect your formal identity information in order for us to be compliant with global industry regulations such as Know-Your-Customer (KYC) Anti-Money-Laundering (AML) and Counter Terrorist Financing(CTF). This information includes:

  • Full name, date of birth, national registration number, copy of your identity document, (if you are Zimbabwean);

  • Proof of residence in the form of bank statements, utility bills or certified affidavit confirming your physical address,

  • If you are are a foreign national temporarily resident in Zimbabwe, your valid passport with a valid permit.

  • If you are a body corporate incorporated in Zimbabwe a certificate of incorporation together with the latest annual tax return to the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority, company registration documents and personal details and documents of directors or officers of the corporate body.

  • For foreign corporate bodies, the requirements may include registration documents equivalent to certificates of incorporation in Zimbabwe, identity documents of directors and officers. All documents to be notarized in the country of origin.

Customer Support / Staff member interaction

We may also collect the information you provide to Golix when interacting with our customer support or other staff members via

  • email, online form, social media, or other correspondence.

Information from using our site

We also collect passive information, which includes,

  • but is not limited to, IP addresses, referral URLs, operating system, your location,device identification, access date and time, browser type and other session data.

Transaction Information

With regards to transactions we may collect the

  • name, address and occupation or, where appropriate, the business or principal activity of each person conducting a transaction and, if known, on whose behalf the transaction is being conducted; and the date and specific time of each transaction i.e when it was initiated and completed; and the type, value or amount of currency involved in the transaction, including what denomination purchased or sold on the Site and the name, and any payment instructions for example: banking details,mobile money details ; and a description of the transactions, the name of the officer, employee or agent who prepared the report of the transaction; and the total amount of fees and charges received and paid to, by or on its behalf.

How we use that information

We collect your personal information to provide the Services to you. We notify you about your:

  • account activity, process transactions, provide customer support services, improve our product, identify, prevent, and report potentially suspicious, fraudulent, or illegal activities, and we notify you about important changes to our Terms and Conditions of Use.

How we Use your personal information

It may be necessary to disclose your information to comply with any law, subpoenas, court orders, or government or regulatory request, defend against claims, investigate or bring legal action against illegal or suspected illegal activities, enforce our Terms & Conditions, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of Golix, our users, or the public.

Our Website may contain links to other third party websites, which are regulated by their own privacy policies and terms and conditions. Golix is not responsible for the privacy policies of these third party websites even if they were accessed using the links from our Website.

Except as stated in this Privacy Policy, Golix does not disclose any of your personal information to third parties unless required to do so by law enforcement, court order, or in compliance with legal reporting obligations.

How you can update your information

You can update your information at any point in time and you do so by contacting us through our customer support system. We shall retain all information and transactional records for a period of at least five years from the date of their creation to ensure that we comply with our statutory obligations, and be able to assist in dispute resolution. If you wish to close your account please advise us through our customer services mechanism.

How we use cookies and persistent local data

We collect web browser information in order to enhance your experience on the Site and track how the Services are being used. Cookies are small data files that are stored on your computer’s hard drive, and in addition to using cookies to provide you with a better user experience, we use cookies to identify and prevent fraudulent activity.
